I love The Splendid Sampler 2! The fantastic blocks still measure 6" so you can mix blocks from both books to create your own masterpiece, or make all the blocks from The Splendid Sampler 2 and have another gorgeous Sampler quilt. This book would make a great Christmas gift as beginners and veteran quilters alike will enjoy the new blocks.
I have been making the first few blocks along with Pats sew-a-long and I’m have having such a fun time. I have ordered my book through Amazon in Canada but was told it wouldn’t be here till January.

Translation: Many of you, like me, made together all over the world the 100 blocks of the Splendid Sampler just over a year ago. Today the new book Splendid Sampler 2 is already on sale where again the authors offer 100 blocks designed by the great stars of the Quilt world. The size of the blocks is the same as the previous Sampler: 6-1 / 2 ".

On this occasion, Pat Sloan offered the initial 20 blocks at no cost. To continue The Splendid Sampler 2 project it is necessary to acquire the book. I have to tell you that it is really worth having. The design of the blocks is ingenious, creative and with contemporary touches. There are blocks whose elaboration is the traditional "piecing" (cutting and sewing), there are blocks made with Paper Piecing, others with the option of the traditional appliqué or the appliqué with fusibles and also with the English Paper Piecing (lined with cardboard pieces).
Can you resist these sweet treat 6" blocks? The joy and exuberance in the blocks reflect the designers: they were asked to create a block in their 'signature style' to answer the question "I'm living my best quilting life when.."

New blocks from Lissa Alexander, Carrie Nelson, Jenny Doan, Susan Ache, Betsy Chutchian, Rob Appell, and others (see the complete list here) include all styles: patchwork, applique, embroidery, paper piecing. Along with great instructions the blocks are shown in alternate colorways.

Pat herself designed Radio Waves block to represent the "email that changed my life" when she was asked to host an Internet radio show about quilting. Jane Davidson created First Aid to represent patching up beloved quilts worn from too much love.

The late Nancy Zieman contributed Nancy's Spool in memory of her annual quilting getaways with dear friends. Lissa Alexander's block Big Sun was made during Hurricane Harvey, "I remember wishing that a Big Sun would come and dry up all the rain."

Other blocks show a love a gardening and flowers, the wonders of cities and majestic mountains and starry nights and the seaside, antique needlework and the women who made them, a love of reading, childhood memories, pets and friendship and family and faith. And of course, a love of sewing quilts!

I received a free ebook from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
