Artist Stacy West grew up in rural Minnesota surrounded by three generations of creative women. She learned to sew at an early age and studied graphic design in college. In 1999, she and her mother, her partner in stitching and crafting, displayed and sold their wares from a booth at International Quilt Market in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since then, Stacy has been growing her business, Buttermilk Basin, featuring her original designs in wool and cottons. With products available online and at her thriving shop in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, Buttermilk Basin is both a retail business selling wool, patterns, kits, fabrics, and home goods, as well as a wholesale supplier of her line of vintage-inspired patterns.Stacy has become recognized as an innovator, a nationally known teacher, and a prolific designer in the quilting industry. She hosts three-day fiber retreats twice a year, and her work has appeared in a variety of magazines.
