This book has a pinwheel quilt on the cover so it definitely has my attention as that is one of my favorite blocks to put in my creations. Along with a Baker’s Dozen of projects, comes five different how-to sections and two pages of basic instructions. So you not only get quilt patterns, you get tutorials as well.

The book begins with a one page introduction from Fons and Porter – just like in their magazines. Then the patterns have a colored photo of the item, block and quilt size, material and cutting lists and the written instructions. Graphics help you make sure you are piecing correctly. You will find tips throughout the book, set off in colored boxes.

With the 13 patterns and your fat quarters, you can create many beautiful quilts that include such blocks as snowballs, stars and pinwheels. Now all you have to do is choose!
If you are looking for a variety of scrap quilts this is a book you will enjoy! This book of Fons & Porter favorites has 13 projects in different sizes ranging from easy to challenging designs created by different designers including Edyta Sitar, Elizabeth Hartman, Nancy Mahoney, Liz Porter. I couldn't resist and have started working on Barbed Wire and Trail Marker, two of the quilts in the book.
Scrappy Fat Quarters has beautiful designs, with plenty of diagrams and photographs to make the quilt making process very easy. I specially appreciate the "Sew Smart" boxes throughout the patterns with time-saving tips, and the "Sew Easy" technique explanations at the end of the book - two invaluable resources.
This would make a nice gift for a quilter friend, especially one who is new to quilting. There is something for everyone in this book to suit everyone's tastes.
