Review from Popular Patchwork, December 2014
One of the very best things about quilting is presenting something that we have made to family and loved ones, and seeing it become a treasured family friend. With our own editor having recently been blessed with a new arrival, it seems like a good time to cast an eye over this loveable collection of baby quilts. Myra Harder's featured projects are varied and interesting, ranging from traditional hexagon quilts (with suggested variations on colourways) to delightful and deceptively minimalist offerings such as the Birthday Bash quilt and a stunning initialled red and white creation called Gift-Wrapped. The invention and good taste on display is commendable, with some inspiring colour combinations and patterns, and the projects show a good range of techniques to get stuck into. The all-too-cute polar bear staring up at the stars featured on the Twinkle, Twinkle quilt... is bound to entrance the little ones. Marvelous.
Myra Harder has been working in the quilting and textile industry for over two decades and has found herself on the same path as her forefathers: her family ties can be traced back nine generations to fabric merchants in Prussia in the mid 1600s. She hopes to continue producing new ideas to inspire the next generation.
Myra loves designing both quilts and fabric, and her quilt patterns have been featured often in books and magazines.
She lives in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada, with her husband, Mark, and their two children, Samson and Robyn.
