Row by row quilts have become quite popular in the last two or three years. This book gives you 24 ideas on how to create a row quilt.

There is a one-page introduction to the book and idea from the contributors. The patterns have a colored photo of the row, a paragraph about it, its name and finished size. The material and cutting lists are easy to follow.

There are graphics to keep you on the right track and templates at full size. There is a framed colored box called “Here’s the Skinny” which tells about the author of that row. The patterns have applique, piecing and some are themed for the four seasons.

In about the middle of the book is a gallery of quilts which shows you various ways to use the row patterns. They can be whole quilts, bell pulls, table runner or centers, a small throw and even a baby quilt. Just use your imagination.

I can see taking blocks from the rows and creating my own quilt. For example, I like the leaves in the Bird on a Pumpkin row pattern. I will use just the leaves block and create my own quilt. The thread and pincushion is another one that I plan to use my own design for the final quilt. The point is that there are LOTS of things you can do with the 24 patterns in this book.

Grab a copy, look through your fabric stash and start sewing your next great creation.
What a great book!
What a great variety of styles and colors! I love all of the creative rows. My favorite though is the sand bucket!
This book is so versatile! I love the rows together but separately they would make beautiful quilts. I am using one block as pillow covers! Great idea to have all the designers work together!!
This book is very versatile! Moda has many different designers and all these rows are one of a kind. It's a lovely effect. Great book for samplers!
Oh... the eye candy! Lissa gathered 24 top designers for Moda Fabrics and they created wonderful row-by-row quilts that are sure to please quilters everywhere whether they like to make whimsical, seasonal, or classic quilts (this is actually how the designs are grouped in the book).

The projects feature a combination of piecing and appliqué and, although they look very elaborate, quilters of every skill level will be tempted! I went straight to the Gallery section and drooled over the projects as I tried to decide which one to make first (because I am sure I will make them all!).

[translation] When a publication combines Moda fabrics with their star designers, quality and taste are guaranteed.

As indicated in the title: MODA ROW BY ROW, each of the 24 designers offers a new, simple, dynamic and entertaining challenge to design a quilt in a way that is unique and finally gives us the pleasure of giving.

The book is divided into three sections: whimsical rows, rows of the seasons, such as Christmas, Easter, summer and Thanksgiving, and the rows made with classic blocks.

It also includes a section with spacer rows that will make the feature rows more prominent.

A series of columns dotted throughout the book allows each designer to share their thoughts related to quilting and in turn invites us to do us personally. It sounds fun and very entertaining.

The techniques offered are varied as the combination of patchwork with appliqué, diagonal settings, traditional blocks, and even embroidery.

Simply browse it - you'll find the instructions are clear and concise and it comes with a variety of tips and very thoughtful suggestions. Appliqué patterns are true size which I think is ideal when we want begin immediately.

Finally, a book that can take huge advantage is to help you make quilts, table runners, bed runners, or wall hangings while enjoying the ideas and creativity of this group of textile artists.
I am working on the very first quilt now! It is the first time I have ever made and applied my own bias tape! I am so excited to do the quilt along with Pat Sloan and have found the e-book exceptionally thorough and easy to understand!
This looks fun, young at heart and cute! I can't wait to get started! Where do I sign up for the book?

Hi Susan, you can purchase the book at your local quilt shop or here on our website. Then be sure to subscribe to our blog and/or our Facebook page for more information on the quilt-along, starting in January. Thanks for your question! --Jenny
