An avid gardener, she offers 19 feminine patterns that feature lace, cables and textured stitches that capture the beauty of the flowers and greenery that abound near her Wisconsin home. She shares them with knitters who will want to create these wraps and cowls, scarves and shrugs to wear themselves, or to lavish on friends and relatives. Sheryl Thies has come out with her latest book, Knitting by Nature. The inspiration for the scarves, wraps, shrugs and shawl designs are the flowers, grasses and vines found in nature. Find nature in her 19 patterns that require little or no finishing.
Her previous books were Ocean Breezes and Nature's Wrapture. Sheryl is an author, designer and educator specializing in knitting and Tunisian crochet. Her love of the outdoors influences her knitting.
Nature is filled with texture, patterns and color. The projects, Acorns to Zebra Grass cover what nature has to offer interpreted as lace, cables and bobbles. The large detailed, colored photographs show you each project from different angles. Line graphs, aid you in knitting the item.
If wraps, shawls, scarves and shrugs are your idea of knitting fun, then you will want to look through this book. As the weather changes, the perfect wrap may be a shawl. Remember it is never too early to start knitting holiday gifts. You can always give the book itself as a gift.
Sheryl Thies retired from a career in health care to follow her artistic passion--combining fiber, texture, and color. In addition to designing and teaching both knitting and Tunisian crochet, she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. She can often be found on the bocce court, either playing or refereeing. She is the author of several Martingale books and lives near Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband.
