Do you like giving handmade gifts whether that is for Christmas or other occasions? If so, this book, geared towards Christmas, is the perfect book to get you creating the handmade gift you want to give.

The book has 15 projects for you and your needle. It begins with a quilt of Christmas wreaths. These wreaths could also be geared towards a spring, summer or fall theme. Each project begins with a paragraph about the item. Then the finished size is given. A material and cutting list is provided.

Tips are set off in a framed box and there are even a few recipes to be found in these boxes. Colored photos of the items are included. The projects included a tree skirt, bedding, mug rugs, table runner, Christmas stockings, place mats, mantel runner, silverware holders, dish towels, wall hanging, pillows, coffee cup sleeve and even a candle lamp (yes, just use an electric candle!) The best part of these projects is that they provide the ideas and you can provide the season/reason for the project. For example, the tree skirt can be turned into a table center. The pillow can be decorated for any season/reason as can all of the items with the exception of the Christmas stockings.

The patterns for embroidery are provided and the instructions are easy to follow. There is a 10-page primer on how to create the embroidery stitches which is great for a beginner and a nice reminder for more experienced stitchers. The last page is a bio about the author.

I can’t wait to start creating handmade gifts for my family and friends. I might just give several copies of this book to my sewing friends and let them in on all the fun found in these pages.
If you enjoy making gifts as much as I do, you will probably like this book by Pat Wys: Handmade Christmas Cheer has 16 gift ideas you can make using embroidery, wool and cotton applique', quilting... The traditional Christmas icons (Santa, reindeer, Christmas lights, holy, wreaths, angels, etc.) are given a fresh makeover with Pat's touch of whimsy, which we have come to love and expect from all her projects.
You will love all the fun projects she has for you. Big ones, small ones, ones for beloved family members, and ones for coworkers and neighbors. She makes simple projects, into amazing gifts by spending a little extra time on the hand stitching. There are ample instructions on how to do each stitch, and how to make a project you will love.
This book has adorable and cute ideas for great Christmas gifts or for decorating your own home. Hand embroidery on mug rugs, placemats, mantel scarf, etc. bring out the spirit of the season. Review from The Applique Society Newsletter, Sept/Oct 2015

If you did not get started on your Christmas sewing in July then you need to know there is still plenty of time for you to create those lovely hand-made gifts everyone cherishes. My new favorite book this season is called Handmade Christmas Cheer-Festive Holiday Projects to Embroider, Applique, and Quilt by Pat Wys. This book is packed full of smaller projects that you will enjoy working on, yet you still have time to finish them before the crush of the holidays hits. There are 16 projects in the book ranging from stockings, bed and table linens, coaster, place mats, a wreath quilt and a tree skirt to name a few. The 76 holiday embroidery designs... words, phrases and motifs...will add a touch of whimsy and delight to your projects. The applique pieces are quite manageable and should go fast. Whether you are looking for a small teacher gift or a special Christmas quilt I know you will find a project in this book that you will enjoy making as well as giving.
