Australian shop owners Leonie Bateman and Deirdre Bond-Abel specialize in combining felted wool and reproduction fabrics in their work. I loved the extra dimension that the appliqued wool pieces added to the work. You will find 12 projects in a variety of sizes for all skill levels. They also include a tutorial for an easy way to cut and applique a dogtooth border. I particularly liked "Rhubarb and Custard" with its positive/negative image and the pillow "A Little Bird Told Me" with its bird and flower applique on top of a half-square triangle background.

Leonie Bateman has had a love of sewing for as long as she can remember. One of her dreams was to one day have her own quilt shop--a dream that she realized six years ago. She shares the quilt shop, The Quilted Crow, with her best friend, Deirdre--the other crow. Leonie is married and has two beautiful daughters. She lives in Australia.

Deirdre Bond-Abel is married and the mother to two beautiful children. In her former life she was a nurse who dreamed of being a quilt-shop owner. Now she's joined forces with her best friend, Leonie, as one-half of The Quilted Crow. What she loves most is sharing her love of wool applique with other like-minded people.
