Review from Australian Homespun, March 2014
If you enjoy making your own bags and are ready to move on from straightforward totes, grab a copy of this book. It includes patterns for 12 bags that Sara has designed for intermediate and advanced stitchers. Her focus is on creating designs that are stylish and don't look handmade. Sara has provided an in-depth description of the range of interfacings she uses and a techniques section with top-notch instructions on installing zippers, a variety of handbag hardware and adjustable straps. With this information to hand, you'll be able to modify each bag to make it unique. The projects range from a small clutch to shoulder bags in a range of shapes that are just a little bit different from the ordinary all the way up to an overnight suitcase. Design elements such as piping, three-dimensional pockets and fabric pleats also help make these bags anything but commonplace. Most are shown in two different colourways and some in three. Highly recommended.
